Mail service availability and restrictions

 

You can send mail to the Channel Islands or Isle of Man for the same cost as mail to UK destinations. This includes next day delivery for First Class mail when posted from one of these Crown dependencies to a UK destination.  Some services are not available or subject to different guaranteed delivery times , however customers in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man can access all of the UK products via their local postal operator.

1 - Customers posting items to the Channel Islands must declare to customs anything other than correspondence.

Items with a value of up to £270 must carry customs declaration CN22.
Items with a value over £270 must carry customs declaration CN23 plus Adhesive plastic wallet SP 126.

2 -  Deliveries to the Channel Islands and Isle of Man may also be subject to delays due to Customs checks.

3 -  Consequential Loss Cover is not available for items going to the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

4 - Available for a small surcharge (£2.25 extra per item) from Post Offices throughout the UK. To find out more, including restrictions, please refer to Special Delivery™ 9am or Special Delivery™ Next Day.

Things to be aware of

  • Customers posting items to the Channel Islands must declare to customs anything other than correspondence.
  • Items with a value of up to £270 must carry customs declaration CN22.
  • Items with a value over £270 must carry customs declaration CN23 plus adhesive plastic wallet SP 126.
  • Deliveries to the Channel Islands and Isle of Man may also be subject to delays due to customs checks.
  • Consequential Loss Cover is not available for items going to the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
  • There is no need to affix an Airmail label to mail destined for the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
  • Stamps purchased in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man cannot be used in the UK, nor can UK postage stamps be used in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
  • A UK return address for undeliverable items can be used if posted from the UK.

For the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man Royal Mail offers delivery services equal to those in the rest of the UK with next day delivery for first class mail when posted from one of these Crown dependencies to a UK destination.  Customers in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man can access all of the UK products via their local postal opeartor.  Contact details for the three operators are as below.
